What is a verb in the Past Tense?
When a word ends in ‘ed’, this means that the action is done, ready, we are over and done with.
We shall be following these rules :
When a word ends in ‘e’, we add a ‘d’. Example arrive – arrived
When a word ends in ‘y’ we remove ‘y’ and add ‘ied’. Example cry – cried
When there is one vowel and one consonant next to each other within the word, one has to apply the doubling rule. Example hop – hopped
Anything else, just add ‘ed’. Example walk – walked, jump – jumped
